Training - Technical Engine (TE) Course Objectives

This course provides students with interactive instruction for the General Motors EMD roots-blown and turbocharged engines. Course contents include a study of all major engine components, assemblies, systems and technical data limits required to operate and maintain a General Motors EMD engine in a power generation or marine propulsion application.

This performance-based program incorporates informative oral presentations and demonstrations on a General Motors EMD diesel engine. Hands-on activities and interactive discussions give the student a practical background in the basic repair, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the General Motors EMD engine.

The General Motors EMD Technical Engine Course is designed for technical support personnel, operators, mechanics, managers, and all other personnel responsible for the efficient operation of the General Motors EMD diesel engine. Participants should have a working knowledge of basic mechanics. This course is a pre-requisite of the Practical Class.

Training - Practical Engine (PE)

This course presents a controlled learning environment in which to apply maintenance practices. It is designed to provide both in-depth study and hands-on experience in power assembly change-out, engine timing and accessory gear train buildup. Emphasis is on actual performance of selected tasks in a laboratory-training environment. The General Motors EMD Practical Engine Course covers installation, inspection and qualification of components. Ample technical information and hands-on training, combined with oral presentation, gives students a solid background in advanced maintenance procedures and repairs. Advanced troubleshooting, parts identification and ordering, engine modification, upgrades and alignment are also covered.

The General Motors EMD Practical Engine Course is designed for technical personnel and mechanical staff.
